Oaty Rice

Oaty Rice

If you come down to the brewery this is invariably what you will get fed…

Steamed rice some naked oat groats and our oat shoyu. Straight out of the press preferably!

The naked oats are beautifully chewy, it’s almost like Turkish rice with the wheat noodles in it. (şehriyeli pilav). Except gluten-free (obviously 🙄).

Ingredients

  • Organic Jasmine Rice 500g
  • Organic Naked Oats 50g
  • Water 500ml (If using a rice cooked follow the instructions)
  • Salt a Pinch

If you don’t have a rice cooker, consider it, there are few things that can impact your life in such a positive way, in quite the same fashion.

Directions

Wash the rice, it just helps get some excess starch off the grain, giving you a less sticky finish.

Add everything to the cooker and press go.

If you want to make good rice on the stove we tend to measure 1 part rice to 1.5 parts boiling water, boil on a low heat with the lid on. (Approx 10 mins)

(This technique ^^ works for basmati and jasmine rice).

Once the rice is done let it sit for ten minutes with the lid on. (Gas off).

To Serve

Serve with Oat Shoyu and cold butter, our kitchen is allergen free so we use Cold pressed rape seed oil. from the wonderful people at ÒR-ganic.
